Geoffrey Carney-Knisely, who recently completed his junior year at The College of Wooster, was voted first-team academic all-district for men's cross country and track & field by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced on Thursday.

Carney-Knisely now advances to the ballot for Academic All-America® consideration.

A regular in Wooster's top seven on the cross country course, Carney-Knisely's best showing came at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships, where he navigated the 8000-meter course in 28:08.8.

A native of South Burlington, Vt., Carney-Knisely worked with the infectious disease epidemiology department with the Vermont Department of Health. While there, the junior participated in CDC conference calls on management of Zika virus and in Vermont's statewide emergency management simulation.

Carney-Knisely sports a 4.0 grade-point average as a biochemistry & molecular biology major and a sociology minor.

Within NCAA Div. III District 7 (Illinois, Indiana, Ohio) just 12 student-athletes were honored by CoSIDA. Carney-Knisely was the lone representative from the NCAC.
