Webster Caps Sophomore Year at Div. III Championships

Carolyn Webster competed in Friday's high jump at the national championships.

GENEVA, Ohio – Carolyn Webster competed with the nation's best as the sophomore represented The College of Wooster at the 2017 NCAA Div. III Track & Field Championships held at SPIRE Institute on Friday. Webster competed in the high jump, where she tied for 21st-place, clearing 5 feet, 1.75 inches.

"This was an amazing opportunity to compete at the national championships," said head coach Dennis Rice. "Carolyn set a person best last week at Ohio Wesleyan University, jumping 5 feet, 7.75 inches, which gave her this tremendous opportunity to come in and compete against the best women in the country. I'm confident she's going to gain valuable experience from this opportunity to build for the future."

Webster passed through the opening height of 4 feet, 11.75 inches before clearing 5 feet, 1.75 inches on her second try. However, Wooster's standout was unable to get over the 5 feet, 3.75 inches clearance in her three attempts at that height.

Overall, this marked Webster's second appearance at the national championships. She previously competed in the high jump as a first-year, placing in a tie for 11th at 5 feet, 5 inches.

Notable, Webster's appearance at the national meet marked the seventh straight year Wooster's had a national qualifier.
