Women’s Winning 4x200 Relay Headlines Wooster’s Outing at Bob Shannon Invitational

The College of Wooster track & field programs traveled to Denison University for the Bob Shannon Invitational on Saturday, as the men placed 11th and the women ninth out of the 13-team field.

Wooster's women's 4x200 relay delivered the lone first-place finish of the day, as the quartet of Korri Palmer, Regan Szalay, Julia Higgins, and Erika Womack crossed in 1:53.96, nearly two seconds ahead of the second-place team.

Sticking with the women, junior Carolyn Webster turned in her best long jump performance of the year with a third-place leap of 15 feet, 11.75 inches. After advancing to the final heat in the 60-meter hurdles, Webster recorded a scoring performance with a seventh-place time of 10.36.

Other top-eight finishes included first-year Georgia Hopps-Weber in the pole vault, who tied her season-best with a clear of 10 feet, 6 inches, good for fifth place overall. Additionally, junior Mallory Crane finished fifth in the triple jump (30 feet, 11.75 inches).

On the men's side, sophomore Spencer Wilson turned in two personal records, starting with a fourth-place claim in the weight throw (46 feet, 4.75 inches) before beating his previous personal best in the shot put by over a foot with a seventh-place throw of 42 feet, 9 inches.

Junior Jackson Feinknopf, who entered the day with the third fastest 5,000-meter time in the North Coast Athletic Conference this season, took home seventh place with a clip of 16:09.68.

Other top-eight times included the sixth-place 4x200 relay team of Justin Fox, Myles Parker, Cam Pollard, and Drake Pence, who finished in 1:37.24, and the seventh-place 4x400 relay team of Parker, Brian Lief, Aedan Pettit, and Jack Petrecca (3:41.69).

Up next, Wooster will compete at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Westerville, Ohio.
