Carolyn Webster from The College of Wooster track & field team finished seven spots above her seed, as the junior standout tied for 10th in the high jump at the 2018 NCAA Div. III Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala. on Saturday afternoon.

Webster, who was seeded 17th heading into the championships, cleared 5 feet, 5 inches on her final attempt at that height to secure her highest-ever finish at the national championships. The junior needed two tries to clear the opening height of 5 feet, 1 inch, but had no trouble at 5 feet, 3 inches, clearing that mark on her first try.

"Carolyn delivered a super effort today," said head coach Dennis Rice. "Carolyn competed with confidence and enthusiasm. She's excited heading into the outdoor season. I'm proud of the way Carolyn handled the pressure of competing at the highest level."

Webster, who competed at the national championships for the third time, previously tied for 11th-place at the 2016 Div. III Indoor Championships (5 feet, 5 inches), and tied for 21st-place at the 2017 Div. III Outdoor Championships (5 feet, 1.75 inches).

Ohio Wesleyan University's Cirrus Robinson won the event at 5 feet, 8.5 inches.

Webster and her teammates now turn their attention to the outdoor season, slated to begin at next week's Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
