The College of Wooster track & field teams traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the three-day Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational, which took place on March 15-17 and included teams from all NCAA divisions.
On the men's side, junior Jackson Feinknopf recorded a top-10 finish in the 10,000 meters with a time of 33:06.46. In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior David Westcott finished second in his heat and 12th overall (10:04.75).
First-year Drake Pence went 11.52 in the 100, followed by a 12:04 from senior Roger An. In the 200, first-year Cam Pollard posted a team-fastest 24.21, just ahead of junior Jarret Art's 24.24.
Junior Jack Petrecca led the Black & Gold in the 400 with a 52.41, just .07 seconds off his personal best. In the 800, junior Brian Lief (2:01.25) and sophomore Aedan Pettit (2:02.74) tallied the top two team-times.
First-year Matt Klonowski ran a 4:47.40 mile, followed closely by junior Andrew Gold's 4:50.13.
Sophomore Spencer Wilson came up a couple inches short of his collegiate best in the shot put (41 feet, 5.75 inches), and classmate Justin Robinson was the lone Scot to compete in the hammer throw (102 feet, 3 inches).
On the women's side, sophomore Akwia Tilton came in .08 seconds shy of her collegiate best 100-meter time (12.80), while first-year Ciara Hudson (1:12.69) and senior Mackenzie Kellar (2:29.30) were the first Scots to cross in the 400 and 800, respectively. Also in the 800, junior Emani Kelley came in just behind Kellar at 2:31.73.
First-year Zoe Covey ran a collegiate outdoor best 5:46.53 in the mile, followed by classmates Emma Busch (5:58.16) and Reaghan Beaver (6:05.04).
In the 4x400 relay, the quartet of Tilton, Kelley, Kellar, and junior Julia Higgins placed 15th with a time of 4:15.56.
Up next, the Scots host the Wooster Invitational on March 30-31, with field events beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
