Junior Carolyn Webster of The College of Wooster women's track & field team placed 19th overall in the high jump at the NCAA Div. III National Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in La Crosse, Wis. on Friday afternoon.

Webster cleared 5 feet, 3.75 inches, matching last week's height at the Great Lakes NCAA Final Qualifying Meet and 1.5 inches short of her outdoor season-best set at the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Dillard Twilight Invitational two weeks ago (5 feet, 5.25 inches).

"Overall, we are very excited about the season Carolyn had this past year, especially with being able to qualify for both the indoor and outdoor national championships," said head coach Dennis Rice. "It's always a special honor to compete at the national championships, and that's one of Carolyn's main focuses throughout the season – to have that opportunity to compete at the national level."

Today's result marks Webster's fourth appearance at the Div. III national championships, including indoor. In addition to her consistent high jump appearances, the junior out of Fredericktown, Ohio made strides in the outdoor heptathlon, and that is another event Webster and Rice feel confident about going into the 2018-19 seasons.

"We're excited about the opportunity she has in the high jump and, obviously, in the heptathlon. We think that is another area where Carolyn will have the opportunity to compete at, especially at the national levels, so we're excited and we feel that she is confident heading in her senior season to end on a high note and then to challenge herself to have an opportunity to be an All-American, whether it's in the high jump or heptathlon," Rice said.
