The College of Wooster's Brian Lief earned the blue ribbon in the 3,000 meters on Friday evening at Oberlin College's Crimson & Gold January Kick-Off, and that led to North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors on Monday, as announced by the league office.
Lief broke the tape at 9:34.34, nearly five ticks ahead of the runner-up time, in what marked his first time running the 3,000 in nearly two years. Coincidentally, Lief's now two-for-two as far as first-place times go in the 3,000, as the senior previously broke the tape at 9:20.00 at Oberlin's season-opener in 2017.
Lief and his Wooster teammates host the Wooster Quad Meet this Saturday, Jan. 19. Field events start at noon with running events to start at 2:30 p.m.
