First-year Claudia Partridge jumped 5-feet, 1.25 inches for second in the high jump Saturday.

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's and women's track and field team took home top honors Saturday, sweeping their respective six-team field at their own Fighting Scots Invitational.

The men won handedly, scoring 166 points. Wittenberg University finished second with 111, and Denison University finished third at 93.

The women won by just three points with a total of 131.5 points. Wittenberg was second at 128.5, and Allegheny College was third at 117.

Earlham College and Kenyon College were the other two teams in the event.

A strong first place performance in the final event secured the win for the women as the 4x400 meter relay team of Emani Kelley, Maya Vasta, Cobi Warstler and Audrey Cordova raced to a time of 4:21.45. They beat out the Wittenberg squad who ran a 4:24.02.

Elsewhere, Wooster won three field events. Senior Carolyn Webster took first in the high jump with a final jump of 5 feet, 2.5 inches. First year Claudia Partridge finished right behind in second with a 5-01.25 jump.

The women also took first in the pole vault thanks to sophomore Georgia Hopps-Weber as she cleared nine feet, 6.25 inches. First-year Morgan Kromer was third after clearing 8 feet, 6.25 inches.

Junior Akwia Tilton took the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 10.75 inches as she edged Webster's second place jump of 16 feet, 8.75 inches.

In distance, first-year Isabelle Hoover finished in 11:01.14 to place first in the 3000 meter run. Allegheny's Molly Tarvin was right behind at 11:02.69.

The Wooster distance medley team of Warstler, Cordova, Kelley and Hoover put together a time of 13:26.42 to place second behind Kenyon.

The 4x200 relay team of Korri Palmer, Vasta, Partridge and Webster finished second with a time of 1:52.90. Vasta also finished second in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.15 seconds, and Palmer was second in the 60 dash in 8.08 seconds.

On the men's side, freshman William McMichael ran the 400 dash for a first-place time of 52.96 seconds. Sophomore Matt Klonowski followed in the 800 run with a first place time of 2:02.32.

Senior David Westcott topped the field in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:28.50, and senior Jordan Dennis ran the 60 meter hurdles in 9.01 seconds for first place.

The men also had a pair of second place finishes in the sprints. Justin Fox ran the 60 dash in 7.3 seconds, and Drake Pence ran the 200 dash in 24.03 seconds.

Wooster won the 4x200 relay race with a time of 1:34.06 behind the team of Pence, Kristian Coleman, McMichael and Myles Parker.

The Scots also won the 4x400 relay in 3:33.73 with a team compiled of McMichael, Brian Lief, Matt Olszewski and Parker.

Lief, Klonowski, Aedan Pettit and Simon Weyer teamed to win the distance medley in 11:08.21.

Coleman was first in the triple jump at 41 feet, 1.75 inches and third in the long jump (20-4.5). Senior Jack Petrecca finished second in the high jump (6-1.25).

Wooster returns to action Feb. 2 when they travel to Denison University for the Bob Shannon Invitational.
