David Westcott

Senior David Westcott of The College of Wooster track & field team will cap his career at next week's NCAA Div. III Track & Field Championships, which take place at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Westcott's ranked as one of the top steeplechasers in the country all season long, and he recently broke the College's record in the event with a 9:02.96 at North Central College's Dr. Keeler Invitational. Westcott's heading into the championships seeded fifth in the event.

Westcott will race in the prelims of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, May 23. The top five finishers in each heat plus the next four fastest times advance to Saturday's finals, which is set for 11:30 a.m.

Westcott is Wooster's first men's qualifier since Mark Stair competed in the high jump at the 2014 championships.
