Wooster Sweeps NCAC Athlete of the Week Awards

Will McMichael, Davis Patterson, Joe Shilts, Wooster track & field The College of Wooster men's track & field team swept the North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week awards, with senior Will McMichael honored for distance and middle-distance events, junior Davis Patterson selected for field events, and senior Joe Shilts chosen for sprints and hurdles events.

McMichael, who collects his eighth NCAC Athlete of the Week award, was the runner-up in the seeded 800 meters at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. McMichael's time of 1:55.75 is currently 21st nationally.

Patterson won the decathlon at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Patterson was one of two NCAA Div. III competitors in the seven-competitor field, with the other five coming from NCAA Div. II programs. Patterson's score of 5,424 points ranks second nationally and was the program's highest decathlon score since 1999.

Shilts logged times of 11.67 in the 100-meter hurdles, 57.32 in the 400-meter hurdles, and was the leadoff leg of the Fighting Scots' 4x400 relay that crossed at 3:30.45 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Shilts' time in the 400 hurdles ranks 26th nationally.

Wooster returns to action at the Bob Kahn Invitational, held March 31 and April 1 at Oberlin College.
