Jim Clymer, who coached three state champions in the pole vault at nearby Orrville High School, enters his fourth year as an assistant coach with The College of Wooster track & field program.

Since coming to Wooster, Clymer's charges have won one North Coast Athletic Conference title and earned two all-conference honors.

At Orrville, nine of Clymer's charges earned All-Ohio honors, and he coached a state runner-up in addition to the three champions. Five vaulters cleared 15 feet, including two who surpassed 16 feet. The Red Riders held the state indoor pole vault record for 10 years at 16 feet, 3 inches.

Clymer also has Div. I experience with a five-year stint at Kent State University. There, he mentored one outdoor All-American and an indoor national qualifier. Other points of pride during Clymer's stint at Kent State included a champion at the prestigious Penn Relays and two conference champions.
