Wooster Can't Solve Powerhouse DePauw

For the third time this year, No. 1 ranked DePauw University held a North Coast Athletic Conference opponent to a point total in the 30's, as the Tigers shut down the Fighting Scots, 98-32, on Saturday at Greencastle, Ind.

With both Denison University (14-4, 6-3 NCAC) and Wittenberg University (10-6, 5-3 NCAC) managing just 38 points against DePauw (18-0, 9-0 NCAC) in recent games, Wooster's (6-11, 1-8 NCAC) rough outing today certainly isn't something to be ashamed of. However, it does make the Scots' results against DePauw from earlier this season look that much more impressive, as Wooster scored 68 points in that meeting, which is the most the Tigers have allowed in their last 80 games.

Perhaps DePauw used that game as motivation, because it held Wooster to a season-low 22.0 percent shooting (11-of-50) in this contest, while converting 60.3 percent (35-of-58) of its own shots from the field on its way to a dominant victory.

Lauren Hancher saw her streak of nine consecutive double-digit scoring games come to an end, although she did lead Wooster with six points, and added three rebounds and a steal. Sydney Failing paced Wooster on the glass with four rebounds, and she also sunk a 3-pointer, as did Rachel Collins, Sydney Grier, and Karley Walker.

DePauw's Savannah Trees scored a career-high 26 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field.

Next up, Wooster hosts Hiram College (4-13, 0-8 NCAC) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
