COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Kyle Croxton led The College of Wooster women's basketball team with 19 points as the Scots closed the 2018 Marriott Columbus Airport Holiday Tournament hosted by Capital University with a 78-73 loss to SUNY Fredonia on Saturday.
Croxton, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, was a critical part to the team's 50 percent mark from 3-point range. Croxton shot 5-for-7 from deep as the team finished 13-for-26.
First-year Jenna Stanton had her best game to date with career-highs in points (15), rebounds (3) and steals (3). She was 5-for-7 from the floor and 3-for-5 from 3-point range.

Senior Anna Gibbs finished with 10 points as the only other Scot in double figures.
Wooster also shot 32 percent (24-for-74) from the floor and 55 percent (12-for-22) from the foul line. Fredonia, while not as strong from deep at 36 percent (4-for-11), made up for it with a 44 percent clip (28-for-63) from the floor and an 86 percent (18-for-21) clip from the charity stripe.
The game stayed close until Fredonia led by 12 with under a minute remaining in the game. Still, Wooster was able to cut that deficit to five before the final horn.
Wooster used a 7-0 run in the first quarter to break a 10-10 tie and ended the first with a 17-13 lead.
With the game tied at 22, the Scots went on another run to take a 32-23 lead with three minutes left in the first half. Maria Janasko scored on a pair of layups in the span, while Croxton and Kylie Orr each hit a 3-pointer.
Unfortunately, the Scots went scoreless in the final three minutes of the half and allowed Fredonia State to close the quarter on a 10-0 run and to take the lead at halftime 33-32.
The teams went back-and-forth to start the third quarter as a Croxton 3-pointer tied the game at 42 with 6:29 remaining. Stanton made a 3-pointer later to tie the game at 51, but Fredonia answered with a 3-pointer of their own on the other end of the floor to take a 54-51 lead after three quarters.
In the fourth, Fredonia went ahead 62-51 before a 3-pointer from Stanton stopped the bleeding with seven minutes remaining. Fredonia expanded that lead to 76-64 with under a minute remaining before Wooster closed the game on a 9-0 run with two 3-pointers from Gibbs and another from Stanton.
Fredonia moves to 6-4 with the win, while Wooster falls to 4-8. The Scots return home Wednesday when they host Case Western Reserve University.
