No. 7 Tigers Remain Undefeated in NCAC Play After Victory Over Scots

Akwia Tilton

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The College of Wooster women's basketball team fell to No. 7 DePauw University 82-44 on Saturday as the Tigers remained undefeated in North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Senior Akwia Tilton and junior Sarah Marion each scored 12 points to lead the Scots. Marion scored 12 of Wooster's 20 first half points, and Tilton just missed out on the rare four-point play in the final quarter.

DePauw was led by senior Sydney Kopp who scored 22 points.

Marion gave Wooster the early 3-2 lead, but once DePauw took the lead on the next possession, they never trailed again. A Tilton 3-pointer tied the game 9-9 with 4:50 left in the first quarter, but DePauw would end the quarter on an 13-4 run.

The Tigers led 48-20 at halftime and led by as many as 45 in the second half. Wooster won the fourth quarter 13-9 as both teams went to their bench for the final five minutes.

Wooster shot just 25 percent from the floor (14-of-57) to DePauw's 42 percent (30-of-71). Wooster connected on six 3-pointers (29 percent) and went 10-of-26 (39 percent) from the foul line.

DePauw (14-1, 6-0 NCAC) won the rebounding battle 53-37 and outscored the Scots in the paint 34-14 and in bench points 40-9.

Wooster is now 4-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference. They return home Wednesday when they face Oberlin College.
