Janasko Named NCAC Athlete of the Week

The North Coast Athletic Conference office recently announced that junior Maria Janasko (Sheffield Lake, Ohio) was named the NCAC Athlete of the Week for women's basketball.

In Wooster's lone game last week, Janasko led the Scots to an 84-79 win against Allegheny College after scoring a career-high 29 points and tying for a game-high eight rebounds.

Janasko, who scored the first nine points for the Scots, shot 10-of-14 from the court and 9-of-13 from the foul line. She also recorded two steals and a block.

So far this year, Janasko has scored in double figures in all but two games. She is averaging a team-high 14.7 ppg and 8.7 rpg. She is fifth in the conference in points per game and second in rebounds.

Wooster (6-13, 2-8 NCAC) travels to Kenyon College (7-13, 4-8 NCAC) on Wednesday before returning home to face Ohio Wesleyan University (10-9, 5-5 NCAC) on Saturday.
