Otterbein leaves Nan Nichols Classic unbeaten

Jenna Stanton Of the six teams in the Nan Nichols Classic, Otterbein University was the only team to claim two wins this weekend as they defeated The College of Wooster women's basketball team 89-38 in the finale.

Tournament MVP Katie McCrary followed up a 12-point performance in a 84-61 win over Hanover College with 14 points in 22 minutes against Wooster on Sunday. Jenna Hoschouer led all scorers with 16 points.

Senior Jenna Stanton scored 10 points to lead Wooster. Sophomore Harley Holloway scored eight and was named to the All-Tournament Team following her 25-point performance in yesterday's loss.

Senior Masani Francis and junior Namara Rwakatare each finished with six points.

Otterbein made it their mission to work the ball inside whether it be in a half court set or in transition. They scored 62 points in the paint and 22 fast break points.

Their bench added 50 points, and the Cardinals outscored the Scots in points off turnovers, 34-7, and second chance points, 20-2. They outrebounded Wooster 48-27.

Wooster never held the lead and fell in an 8-0 hole to start the game. They trailed 43-22 at halftime.

Wooster shot 27 percent (14-of-53) from the floor, 20 percent from deep (4-of-20) and 50 percent from the line (6-of-12). Otterbein shot 51 percent (36-of-70) for the game, 25 percent (4-of-16) from range and 69 percent (13-of-19) from the charity stripe.

Otterbein moves to 3-1, while Wooster falls to 1-4. Wooster travels to Wilmington College on Tuesday.
