Nationally Ranked Tigers Best Scots

Alyssa Chritz GREENCASTLE, Ind. – 14th-ranked DePauw University held its home court with an 88-31 win over The College of Wooster women's basketball team on Saturday.

DePauw (14-2, 7-0 NCAC) stayed perfect in North Coast Athletic Conference play after a decisive start to the contest where they scored 19 straight points.

Wooster got on the board on a free throw from Riley Thorr at the 3:14 mark. Wooster went 0-for-14 in the quarter and found themselves in a 21-1 hole with one quarter gone.

On their 21st shot attempt the Scots finally broke through with a second chance basket from Paige Wells with 6:48 left in the half. That led to a made free throw from Krista English next time down as Wooster finally started to get a rhythm. 

Wooster's next basket was another second chance attempt as Tamara Turner made it a 34-6 game. It was just her second basket as a Fighting Scot this year as she finished the game with six points and tied for a game-high seven rebounds off the bench.

Senior Jenna Stanton later scored her first points in the post and Wooster trailed 42-8 at halftime.

Midway through the third quarter, sophomore Harley Holloway had a pull-up jumper connect for her first points of the game and Wooster's first points of the quarter. Holloway also went 4-for-4 at the line for six of Wooster's eight points of the third.

Stanton scored right off the bat to start the fourth and later hit a 3-pointer for the first five points of the quarter. She scored seven her nine points in the final 10 minutes.

Holloway led Wooster with 10 points. DePauw's Mya Shannon scored a game-high 11 points in 16 minutes of action.

On the plus side, Wooster again shot admirably from the foul line at 71 percent on 10-of-14 shooting. They hit just one 3-pointer (5 percent) and shot 18 percent (10-of-56) for the game.

DePauw shot just under 50 percent (30-of-61) and shot 80 percent from the line on 24-of-30 shooting.

The Tigers outrebounded Wooster 57-23. They never trailed and led by as many as 62.

Wooster moves to 3-12 overall and 2-4 in NCAC play. They host Kenyon College on Wednesday.
