Thorr scores new career high in loss to Bishops

Riley Thorr DELAWARE – The College of Wooster women's basketball team lost to Ohio Wesleyan University 89-37 in North Coast Athletic Conference play on Monday. 

Wooster was limited to just eight players and were led by 15 points and five rebounds from Harley Holloway. The sophomore reached double figures for the third consecutive game and is averaging 18.3 points in that span.

Senior Jenna Stanton added 10 points and five rebounds and was the only other Scot to reach double digits.

Junior Riley Thorr scored seven points off the bench for a new career high. Classmate Paige Wells added three points, and first-year Kay Robinson scored her first basket for the Scots' final two.

Ohio Wesleyan's Cierra Joiner led all scorers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Alyssa Griner and Kasey Schipfer each added 10 points.

Ohio Wesleyan shot an impressive 55 percent (36-of-65) for the game, while Wooster shot 28 percent (14-of-51). The Battling Bishops also outrebounded Wooster 42-22.

It was Ohio Wesleyan's fourth straight win as they move to 15-4 overall and 8-2 for third place in the NCAC. Wooster is now 4-14 and 3-6 in conference play.

Next, the Scots will welcome Denison University to Timken Gymnasium on Wednesday.
