A record-setting day two for The College of Wooster at its own Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational resulted in the Fighting Scots' women's golfers moving up the leaderboard to third-place – a single stroke out of second – in the six-team field that competed under perfect weather conditions Saturday and Sunday at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster, Ohio.

After a fourth-place 340 over the first 18 holes when it was short-handed (one starter withdrew due to illness), Wooster shot a 328, marking its lowest team round on its home course, and individually, Emily Howerton carded a school-record 76 on the par-72, 5,802-yard layout.

The Scots' 668 total was narrowly off the pace of North Coast Athletic Conference foe Denison University (667), while another league member, rival Wittenberg University, won the team title (628). Wooster finished well in front of the University of Mount Union (693), Ohio Wesleyan University (719), and Capital University (760).

Hoewrton paced the Scots both days, firing an 83 before her record round, and produced a third-place finish (159) out of the event's 47 participants. The sophomore opened her second 18 with birdies on the first and second holes en route to an even-par 36 during the front nine, and totaled 10 pars.

Hannah Buzolits also shot in the 70s Sunday, featuring back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh. The 79 paired with an 85 over the first 18 holes earned her a top-10 performance, tied for ninth-place with teammate Sharmeen Chinoy, who turned in an 84 followed by 80. Chinoy concluded the two-day event by birdieing the par-four, 378-yard 18th.

Also scoring for Wooster each day was first-year Victoria Roney. She tallied an 88 and 93 and wound up in the top half of the field, tying for 22nd, while teammate Mallorey Stack, who competed as an individual, totaled 181 (91-90) as well.

The Scots will wrap up the fall portion of their season at Wittenberg's Pat Clouse Invitational Oct. 11-12.
