The College of Wooster, keyed by a 79 from Hannah Buzolits, shot a solid 343 during the final 18 holes of the North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series, held at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio, to take fourth-place in the team standings of the 72-hole event.

The fourth-place showing marks a two-spot improvement over last season.

After struggling a bit this past Saturday with a 367, Wooster was in danger of dropping to fifth. Instead, the Fighting Scots stepped up and recorded one of their best rounds of the spring, a 343, which allowed them to hold off Allegheny College for fourth while staying within seven strokes of regionally-ranked DePauw University (336) on the last day.

Wooster, which scored better than third-place Denison University in two of the four rounds, totaled 1407 over the 72 holes, a low at the NCAC Championships for the five-year varsity program.

This weekend, Buzolits bounced back from an uncharacteristic 94 the opening 18 for a barely-over-par 79 on Sunday. It marked her third score in the 70s this season, and she tied for 11th-place in the overall individual standings with a 345.

Scot teammate Emily Howerton was part of that 11th-place tie after a similar up-and-down weekend, first shooting 91 and then responding with an 84.

Sharmeen Chinoy, following an atypical start to the NCAC's last weekend, improved with back-to-back 89s, contributing to Wooster's score each day, as did Mallorey Stack, who carded similar rounds of 93 and 91.

After scoring both the first and second 18 holes last weekend, Victoria Roney started again for the Scots and turned in 96 and 93 to take 24th individually (366). Stack was narrowly ahead of her in a tie for 22nd-place (362).

All five of Wooster's starters are slated to return next year.
