Scots Run Away From 10-Team Field for Second Tourney Title in Team History

 The women's golf team won the OWU Fall Invitational for the second-straight year.

For the first time in program history, The College of Wooster women's golf team was faced with a title defense. The Fighting Scots rose to the occasion, racing out to a 23-stroke lead at the end of the first round and extending it to 33 strokes on Sunday, to claim the team title at the OWU Fall Invitational for the second-straight year.

Wooster, which claimed the top-three spots in the individual standings, fired a school-record 321 in the first round on Saturday. The Scots followed with a 329 on Sunday to finish at 650 for the 36-hole event.

Junior Emily Howerton picked up her first career individual medalist honor. The Akron, Ohio native opened play with a five-over-par 77, one shot off her school-record clip of 76. Howerton would tie for the team's low round on Sunday (81) to finish at 158 for the tournament.

Senior Sharmeen Chinoy, last year's medalist at the OWU Fall Invitational, finished as the runner-up. Chinoy carded a 79 on Saturday and followed with an 81 to finish at 160.

Junior Hannah Buzolits tied for third overall in the field of 59 competitors. She navigated the par-72, 5,823-yard Safari Golf Club with an 80 on Saturday, and followed with an 83 to finish at 163.

Sophomore Victoria Roney gave Wooster four golfers in the top-10. She went 85-84 to tie for seventh (169), while junior Mallorey Stack (86-88, t-13th) rounded out the lineup and first-year Jennie Blosser (101-105, 50th) competed as an individual.

Host Ohio Wesleyan University (683), Columbus State Community College (684), Ohio Northern University (692) and Otterbein University (696) rounded out the top-five teams.
