Buzolits Leads the Way as Wooster Finishes Third at Home Invite

The College of Wooster women's golf team placed third at its Eva Shorb Weiskopf Memorial Invitational this Saturday at the Wooster Country Club.

The teams battled tough elements on Saturday with rain, cold temperatures, and high winds, but saw favorable conditions on Sunday with temperatures in the 60s and sunshine.

Wittenberg University led the nine-team field at 647, 29 strokes better than runner-up DePauw University. The Tigers' Maggie Smith claimed medalist honors with a 10-over-par 154. Wooster's 711 was one stroke better than Denison University's 712.

Hannah Buzolits led the way for the Fighting Scots on the weekend, tying for third at 166. She ended the weekend on a high note, playing the final five holes on Sunday at one-under par. Buzolits turned in a 78 on Sunday, which was tied for the second-lowest round of the day, while on Saturday, the junior carded an 88.

Emily Howerton tied for 20th at 180 with rounds of 85 and 95. Highlighting Howerton's second day were three-straight pars on hole Nos. 12-14. The junior had a strong start to the weekend playing the first four holes on Saturday at one-over par despite the elements.

Mallorey Stack placed 26th at 183, with teammate Victoria Roney finishing in 31st at 188. Sharmeen Chinoy rounded out the lineup with a 196 to take 43rd.

Wooster's Jennie Blosser competed as an individual and turned in a 214.

The Scots close out their fall slate at Wittenberg's Pat Clouse Invitational next weekend at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.
