The College of Wooster women's golfers capped their fall season with an impressive fourth-place showing among a strong 14-team at Wittenberg University's annual Pat Clouse Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio.

Fourth-place was impressive for a number of reasons. It marked a five-spot improvement in the standings from last season's event, which offered a similarly competitive field, and its 674 score was 46 strokes better at the same course. With rounds of 341 the first 18 holes and 333 the second 18, Wooster finished ahead of the likes of fellow conference teams Denison University (678), Ohio Wesleyan University (717), and Allegheny College (728). Lastly, the Fighting Scots were able to perform well, despite missing their No. 2 golfer, in terms of season average, on Saturday.

Wooster's other four starters stepped up, with Sharmeen Chinoy leading the charge as the senior carded a team-low 82 the opening 18 and an 84 Sunday on the par-72, 5,809-yard course. The 166 put her in 16th-place individually out of the 85 golfers.

Junior teammate Mallorey Stack's two rounds were also separated by just two strokes – an 85 followed by an 83 – and she was part of a tie for 17th (168), along with Victoria Roney. The team's lone sophomore shot 86, then a team-low 82 the second 18.

Also finishing the fall strong for the Scots, Hannah Buzolits posted an 84 Sunday to bounce back from an 88, as the junior tied for 24th overall (172).

Wooster, which entered this week ranked 12th in the region, according to Golfstat.com, will resume competitive play in the spring.
