Scots Fourth at Midway Point of NCAC Women's Golf Championship Series

The College of Wooster women's golf team fired a 348 in both rounds at the par-72, 5,806-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club at Streetsboro, Ohio, and sits in fourth-place after the first event of the two-weekend, 72-hole 2016 North Coast Athletic Conference Golf Championship Series.

Wooster's 348 marked an opening-round best for the Fighting Scots at the conference tournament, while the team's weekend score of 696 shots has the College positioned 16 strokes back of third-place Denison University's 680. Third-ranked Wittenberg University leads the seven-team field at 618, 31 shots better than second-place DePauw University.

Emily Howerton and Mallorey Stack led the Fighting Scots on the weekend, as the duo sit in a tie for 13th at 171. Howerton opened with an 82, the lowest round turned in by Wooster on the weekend. Stack tied for the team low round of the day on Sunday matching a season-best with an 83. Stack's Sunday score marked a five-shot improvement from her 88 on Saturday.

Hannah Buzolits came in right behind Howerton and Stack with a 172 to tie for 15th. Buzolits turned in an 83 on Sunday, a six-stroke bounce-back after Saturday's 89.

Wooster's team score was rounded out by Victoria Roney's 89 on Saturday and Sharmeen Chinoy's 93 on Sunday. Chinoy sits in 21st at 183, while Roney's 185 has the sophomore in 22nd-place.

Wooster hosts the final 36 holes of the NCAC Golf Championship Series next weekend at the Wooster Country Club. The Scots will tee off at approximately 8:45 a.m. on Saturday.
