Scots Finish in Middle of Pack at Lynn Schweizer Invitational

The College of Wooster women's golf team finished in the middle of the pack at the season-opening Lynn Schweizer Invitational held at the Denison Golf Club at Granville, Ohio. Wooster placed ninth in the 16-team field with a two-day total of 690.

Wittenberg University won the tournament at 610, while Bridgewater College's Christina Herbert (145) edged out the Tigers' Macy Hubbard on the first playoff hole for medalist honors.

Senior Emily Howerton led the way on the weekend. She shot an 81 on Saturday, the team's lowest round of the day, and followed with an 85 on Sunday to finish at 166 and tie for 22nd-place.

Classmate Hannah Buzolits turned in a seven-stroke improvement on Sunday for an 80, Wooster's lowest round of the tournament. She had an 87 in the first round, and shot a 167 to tie for 25th-place.

Two freshmen had memorable debuts to their collegiate career in Hannah Appleman and Kaci Carpenter. Appleman fired back-to-back 89s to finish at 178 and tie for 60th-place. Carpenter went 90-89 to finish at 179 and tied for 62nd-place.

Senior Mallorey Stack rounded out the lineup, and had a stellar bounce-back round on Sunday with a 14-stroke improvement. She finished at 198 and placed 90th.

Freshman Emily Stoehr competed in the tournament as an individual and shot a 273.

Wooster is without the services of junior Victoria Roney this fall. She will rejoin the team in the spring, and is spending this season studying abroad.

Wooster is back in action on Saturday at the OWU Fall Invitational at the Safari Golf Club in Powell, Ohio.
