Scots Take Sixth-Place at Allegheny College Women's Invitational

The College of Wooster women's golf team continued its list of solid fall season performances with a sixth-place showing among the 12-team pool at this weekend's Allegheny College Women's Invitational.

The Fighting Scots shot a 342 on Sunday across the par-73, 5,818-yard course at the Country Club of Meadville, as Wooster sat tied for fifth after the first day before rounding out the tournament with a second-day 354 to finish with a 696 on the weekend.

Senior Hannah Buzolits led the charge for the Scots, backing up an opening-round 84 with a second-round 82 for a 13th place finish (166).

After carding a team-low 80 on the opening 18, senior Mallorey Stack followed up Sunday's strong performance with a second-round 90 to finish in a tie for 21st (170).

Emily Howerton bounced back from a 91 on Sunday with an 87 on the final 18, as the senior finished tied for 28th (178) to round out the scoring for Wooster's upperclassmen.

First-year Hannah Appleman followed a first-round 87 with a 98 on Monday to finish in 41st place (187), while first-year teammate Kaci Carpenter finished three strokes behind Appleman with a 93 the opening round followed by a 95 on Monday, as she finished tied for 46th (188).

Wooster finished ahead of fellow conference team Allegheny College, while Wittenberg University and Denison University posted team scores of 643 and 663, respectively, to finish within the top-three on the weekend.

The Scots continue their fall slate this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Grey Hawk Golf Club in LaGrange, Ohio, as the two-round tournament is set to begin on Saturday.
