Scots Cap Fall with Runner-Up Finish at Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational

Kaci Carpenter and the Fighting Scots have plenty of momentum for the spring season, as Wooster capped the fall with a runner-up finish at the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational over the weekend.

WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team capped its fall slate with runner-up honors at its home tournament – the Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational – over the weekend at the par-72, 5803-yard Wooster Country Club.

Wooster posted similar rounds of 355 and 351 to finish at 706 for the tournament. North Coast Athletic Conference rival Denison University ran away from the nine-team field with a 657 on the weekend, while the Big Red's Annie Miller earned medalist honors at 159.

Senior Hannah Buzolits earned individual runner-up honors at 160. Buzolits started the day three strokes back of Miller after an 81 on Saturday, and turned in a 79 on Sunday. For the weekend, she carded birdies on the par-4, 271-yard 17th hole on Saturday and No. 8, a par-3, 147-yard hole on Sunday.

Classmate Emily Howerton backed Buzolits up with a top-10 finish, and tied for ninth overall at 176. Howerton turned in an 86 on Saturday, and followed suit with a 90 on Sunday. Howerton's round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5, 415-yard 13th hole on Saturday.

Senior Mallorey Stack tied for 14th after a 36-hole score of 182. Stack turned in Wooster's second-lowest round of the day (89) on Sunday, after an opening 18-hole score of 93.

First-years Kaci Carpenter (95-93-188) and Hannah Appleman (96-100-196) rounded out the lineup and placed 26th and 37th respectively.

Wooster returns to action in March, and will welcome back junior Victoria Roney to the team, who missed the fall season while studying abroad.
