The College of Wooster women's golf team opened up its spring slate in impressive fashion by topping Div. II East Stroudsburg University by 14 strokes on Thursday afternoon at the Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C.

Wooster, who shot a 350 for the round that started on the back nine, was led by senior Hannah Buzolits' 82, which was the second-best round of the day. Buzolits roared out of the gates and was 2-under-par through two holes after birdies on the par-4, 343-yard 10th hole and the par-4, 332-yard 12th hole with a par on the par-3, 158-yard 11th hole sandwiched between the two red numbers.

Classmate Emily Howerton turned in a very consistent round with a pair of 42s on each nine-hole split at the par-72, 5807-yard course. She turned in a pair of birdies on the round, including on the par-3, 140-yard No. 8.

Of note, Wooster welcomed back junior Victoria Roney, who spent the fall semester studying abroad, and she bounded back with a five-stroke improvement over the final nine holes of play on Thursday to finish at 91. Senior Mallorey Stack also checked in five stroke lower on the scorecard on the front-9, and finished the day with a 93.

First-year Hannah Appleman rounded out the lineup with a 98, while classmates Kaci Carpenter and Emily Stoehr competed at individuals and carded rounds of 100 and 127 respectively.

East Stroudsburg's Samanta Miller earned medalist honors with an 80.

Wooster is back in action on Monday with a stroke-play round against Div. I Savannah State University.
