Buzolits Breaks Wooster's Record for Low 36-Hole Score as Scots Place Fourth at Laura Bump Invitational

Senior Hannah Buzolits broke The College of Wooster women's golf team's 36-hole record with a 153 on the weekend to earn runner-up honors, while the Fighting Scots turned in a season-low 327 on Saturday and a season-best 668 for the weekend to finish fourth at Ohio Wesleyan University's Laura Bump Invitational held at Mill Creek Golf Club in Ostrander, Ohio.

Buzolits carded a 76 on Saturday, and in fact two of Wooster's three seniors had 76s on the cards at the midway point of the tournament as Emily Howerton joined Buzolits in the second spot on the leaderboard. Buzolits went on to lead the field with a 77 on Sunday for her 153 and finish two strokes clear of alumna Sharmeen Chinoy for the lowest 36-hole score in program history.

Howerton turned in a phenomenal weekend as well and picked up a fourth-place finish, making Wooster the lone squad in the nine-team field with two top-five finishers. Howerton followed up Saturday's 76 with an 82 to finish at 158. Notable, the 158 matched Howerton's career-best effort, and that stroke total is tied for the fourth-best in the program annals for 36-hole tournaments.

First-year Hannah Appleman continued her stellar spring with a collegiate-low 177 to finish in a tie for 28th-place. Appleman matched her collegiate low round with an 84 to open play on Saturday before turning in a 93 on Sunday.

Senior Mallorey Stack and junior Victoria Roney rounded out the lineup on the weekend. Stack improved by four strokes from Saturday to Sunday and carded a 182 on the weekend to place 37th, while Roney was three strokes back at 185, which placed her 40th.

Notable, Wooster's 327 on Saturday marked the fourth-lowest team round in program history, and the best collective effort since the Scots shot a 321 in the first round of the 2015 Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational.

Davenport University won the tournament with a 649 while Denison University's Anne Miller captured medalist honors with a 6-over-par 150.

Next, Wooster hosts its annual Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (April 15-16) at the Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio.
