The College of Wooster women's golf team achieved another milestone this weekend by capturing the team title at the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational held at the par-73, 5933-yard Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio.

While this wasn't the Fighting Scots' first team championship in program history, it was the biggest in terms of field size. Wooster set the tone from the get-go in the 14-team field with a 339 on Saturday, and carried an 18-stroke lead into the final round. On Sunday, Wooster's lead grew, and the Scots finished 32 strokes ahead of runner-up Ohio Northern University with a 36-hole total of 680.

Sophomore Lilly Dunning and junior Kaci Carpenter carded collegiate lows to lead the way on Saturday. Dunning's 81 was the clubhouse leader heading into play on Sunday, and the Wilmington, Ohio native shot a 92 on Sunday to finish tied for eighth-place at 173.

Carpenter opened her junior year with an 84, and she stayed fairly consistent over the final 18 holes with an 86 to place sixth at 170.

Sophomore Megan Gronau made the biggest jump for Wooster from Saturday to Sunday. Gronau opened with an 86 on Saturday, and then recorded a seven-stroke improvement on Sunday to climb to third on the leaderboard at 165.

Classmate Tongtong Wu added a seventh-place showing with a 172. Wu opened with an 88 and followed that up with an 84.

Junior Hannah Appleman rounded out the Scots' lineup at 187 and placed 34th.

First-year Kayla Audette led a quartet of Scots playing as individuals, and debuted with a 14th-place finish at 179.

Wooster previously won the Ohio Wesleyan University Fall Invitational in 2014, 2015, and 2017.

Wooster is back in action at the Allegheny College Women's Invitational on Sept. 23.
