SCOTS OPEN FALL SLATE AT LYNN SCHWEIZER INVITATIONAL

Drew Patterson GRANVILLE, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team opened the fall with a 350, and the Fighting Scots are in eighth-place at Denison University's Lynn Schweizer Invitational, held at the Denison Golf Club.

Sophomore Melissa Burtscher led Wooster with an 82 and is tied for 18th-place. She opened with three straight pars and logged a four-hole stretch of pars from Nos. 9-12. First-year Ally Siewert debuted with an 87 and is tied for 32nd-place. Siewert carded Wooster's lone birdie of the day, with that coming on the par-4, 16th hole. Siewert's collegiate career started with four straight pars, and the rookie had a team-best nine holes at par or better.

Kayla Audette shot an 89 and is in 39th-place. The senior took charge on the par-five holes, playing those at 1-over-par on the day, thanks to pars on Nos. 6, 12, and 15.

Junior Riley Thorr rounded out the scorers with a 92 and sophomore Drew Patterson was Wooster's No. 5 at 108. First-year Maddie Moran had a 112 in her collegiate debut.

Emory University leads the 10-team field at 298. The Eagles' Ellen Dong and Irene Wang are the clubhouse leaders after shooting even-par.

Round two is set for Sunday, September 5.
