Burtscher, Siewert, Propel Scots to Fourth-Place Finish

Riley Thorr FOSTORIA, Ohio – Fueled by collegiate-bests from its top two finishers, The College of Wooster women's golf team climbed from sixth-place to fourth-place on the final day of the Heidelberg University Fall Invitational. The Fighting Scots shot a 338 on Friday and came back with a season-low 331 at the par-72, 5,668-yard Fostoria Country Club on Saturday to finish at 669.

Sophomore Melissa Burtscher lowered her collegiate-best for the second time this year, this time to 76. That score is tied for the second-lowest in program history, and marks the 10th time a Fighting Scot has shot 76 or better. Burtscher's career day vaulted the sophomore up to eighth-place at 157, and that score is the seventh-best 36-hole mark in the program annals.

First-year Ally Siewert carded an 80 on Saturday, marking a seven-stroke improvement of her prior collegiate-low of 87 logged in the opening round of the season lid-lifting Lynn Schweizer Invitational. Siewert took 16th-place this week at 167.

Seniors Kayla Audette and Meghan Wright were a factor in both of Wooster's low rounds of the season. Audette shot an 83 on Friday, which marked Wooster's second-lowest round, and she followed that with an 86 on Saturday. Audette tied for 20th-place at 169. Wright tied for 36th-place at 176. She shot an 87 on Friday and tallied an 89 on Saturday.

Junior Riley Thorr played as an individual this week and tied for 49th-place. Thorr capped the weekend with an 89, with that marking a new collegiate-low.

Sophomore Drew Patterson had a three-stroke bounce back on Saturday, and rolled in her first collegiate birdie during Friday's round. Patterson came to the clubhouse with a 189 on the weekend.

Allegheny College won the 10-team invite at 633. The Gators' Camille O'Halloran took medalist honors at 149.

Next, Wooster's at Allegheny's Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Invitational at the Country Club of Meadville September 26-27.
