Scots Take Third in Meadville

Melissa Burtscher Wooster women's golf MEADVILLE, Pa. – The College of Wooster women's golf team shot 351 on each day of Allegheny College's Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Invitational, which took place the last two days at the par-71, 5,500-yard Country Club of Meadville. Wooster placed third of seven counting teams.

Sophomore Melissa Burtscher signed for an 82, Wooster's lowest round of the event, on Monday. She tied for 13th-place at 165. Senior Kayla Audette was next at 168, which was the 16th-place score. Audette matched Burtscher for the Scots' low round on Sunday at 83, and the senior followed with an 85 on Monday.

First-year Ally Siewert logged a five-stroke bounce back on Monday to finish at 183. Siewert opened with a 94 and closed with an 89, and that resulted in climbing the leaderboard to 29th-place.

Junior Riley Thorr's 91 was Wooster's No. 3 score on Sunday. Thorr finished in 33rd-place at 188.

Drew Patterson had Wooster's biggest improvement from round one to round two, as the sophomore came to the clubhouse at 95 on Monday, nine strokes better than Sunday's score. Patterson tied for 38th-place.

Denison University pulled away from the field with a 301 on Monday, as the Big Red finished at 622, 44 strokes better than runner-up Allegheny. Denison's Kate Griffin was the medalist at 152.

Next, Wooster wraps up its fall season at the Wooster Fall Invitational, which takes place October 2-3 at the Mohican Hills Golf Club in Jeromesville, Ohio.
