Scots Surge To Second With 30-Stroke Bounce Back

Ally Siewert College of Wooster Golf JEROMESVILLE, Ohio – The College of Wooster women's golf team improved by 30 strokes, marking the biggest bounce back in program history, and the Fighting Scots climbed from fifth-place to second-place on the final day of the Wooster Fall Invitational. Wooster opened with a 360 and fired a 330 on Sunday to finish at 690.

Three Wooster linksters – senior Kayla Audette, sophomore Melissa Burtscher, and first-year Ally Siewert – all tied for low honors within the team at 168, which marked the fourth-place score at the event. Audette closed the fall with a collegiate-best 79, and that marked a 10-stroke improvement from Saturday's round. Audette had a late birdie in Sunday's round and she played the back nine at the par-72, 5,630-yard Mohican Hills Golf Course at 3-over-par.

Burtscher backed Audette's 79 up with an 80 on Sunday, and that was an eight-stroke improvement from the sophomore's Saturday score. Siewert was the Scots' consistent player on the weekend with matching 84s.

Riley Thorr had Wooster's biggest drop on Sunday, and the junior's 87 marked a new collegiate-low. Thorr tied for 32nd-place at 191.

Senior Meghan Wright rounded out the lineup. Wright was 31st after rounds of 99-91.

Sophomore Drew Patterson shot 93 each day to lead a trio of Scots playing as individuals. Patterson finished in 27th-place.

Wooster's previous to mark in the bounce-back department came at the 2014 North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. There, Wooster shot 362 in the third round and came back to post a 343 in the finale.

Allegheny College won the nine-team event at 660. The Gators' Camille O'Halloran ran away with medalist honors at 151, in what marked a 13-stroke victory.

The Wooster Fall Invitational marked the Scots' final event of the fall.
