The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team had scored just once during the first 12-plus minutes of the second half, but then the Fighting Scots exploded for six-straight goals down the stretch, and eventually held on to drop Allegheny College 14-10 on Thursday in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at Meadville, Pa.

The Scots (10-5) will now head to No. 1 seeded Denison University (12-4) on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the finals of the NCAC Tournament. Denison scored a dramatic game-winning goal with :43 remaining in regulation to sneak by No. 4 Wittenberg University earlier today.

Wooster trailed 7-6 at halftime, and eventually fell behind by two goals after Allegheny's Anna Koebly scored to make it 9-7 early in the second half.

The score stayed that way until a game-changing 11:17 stretch, where Wooster piled on six unanswered goals to take a 13-9 advantage. Clare Nelson-Johnson scored a pair, and Emily Meyer, Eileen Barrer, Madison Carey, and Cassie Greenbaum added one each during the run.

The game was a back-and-forth affair in the early goings, as Katie Smart scored the game's first goal 2:07 into the action, and then two minutes later, Jensen Paterson responded with a successful free-position attempt that tied the game at 1-1.

The Scots led by two goals on two occasions during the first half, including at 5-3 following a Nina Dine-to-Greenbaum connection, but then Paterson scored twice and assisted on two other goals to give Allegheny a 7-5 lead.

Barrer cut Wooster's deficit to 7-6 by beating the 'keeper on a dish from Isabel Baylor, and the score stayed that way into the break, despite another near-goal from Paterson that just missed high by hitting the crossbar.

On the stat sheet, Wooster had three players record four points, with Barrer (4 goals), Greenbaum (3 goals, 1 assist), and Nelson-Johnson (3 goals, 1 assist) leading the way. In goal, Shawna Ferris made nine saves.

Allegheny's Paterson, who came into the game with the most points in a single season in NCAC history (104), recorded a game-high eight points (5 goals, 3 assists) in the setback.
