Following her first-team all-conference selection earlier this month, College of Wooster junior attacker Madison Carey has now earned a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-West Region Team, as announced by the organization Thursday.

Carey received second-team accolades on the all-region squad, her first such honor, after putting together one of the best offensive seasons in school history. Her 74 points were the second-highest total in the North Coast Athletic Conference this year, and came on 53 goals and 21 assists. Those gaudy numbers also tied her for the third-most points and third-most goals ever in a season for a Wooster player.

After scoring 11 goals over her first four games, Carey racked up a remarkable 31 goals during her next seven, which included a career-high 11-point game (6 goals, 5 assists) against the NCAC's Oberlin College April 13. She finished the season with 11 more goals during Wooster's final five games, and wound up just seven goals shy of breaking the school's all-time single-season record (79 goals).

On the season, Carey scored double-digit goals in all but one game, and totaled 10 hat tricks in all. She also fired in eight of her goals on free-position shots, which ranked her among the best in the league in that category.

The Fighting Scots went 10-6 this spring and reached the NCAC Tournament Championship game for the fifth-consecutive year, but were edged out by Denison University 10-9.
