Shawna Ferris, who recently completed her sophomore campaign as the goalkeeper for The College of Wooster's women's lacrosse team, was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team for at-large sports, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. Ferris landed second-team honors.

Ferris picked up her second all-North Coast Athletic Conference citation earlier this spring, collecting first-team honors after posting the best save percentage (.459) among the league's regular 'keepers. She ranked second in goals against average (9.78) and third in groundballs (2.8 per game). Ferris tallied double-digit save totals in four games, headlined by a career-high 15 versus Colorado College, and also of note, Wooster's defense rates among the top-40 in NCAA Div. III (9.31 goals allowed per game).

In addition to her on-field success, Ferris maintains a near-perfect grade-point average (3.97) while majoring in communication studies. She also has volunteered for a food shelter near her hometown of Boxborough, Mass.

The honorees were selected by CoSIDA among top student-athletes in at large-sports, consisting of crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, and water polo, with minimum 3.30 GPA's from the college division (NCAA Div. II and III, and NAIA) in Wooster's five-state district (Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee).
