The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team took a 7-1 lead early in the first half and never looked back, on its way to a lopsided 22-8 victory Wednesday afternoon over Greensboro College at a neutral site in Sewanee, Tenn.

Sophia Hoover Grant and Madison Carey scored during the first four minutes of action, and shortly after, Clare Nelson-Johnson beat the 'keeper twice within a span of 21 seconds, which put the Scots (2-1) ahead 4-0.

Greensboro (2-5) halted Wooster's scoring run to make it 4-1, but the Scots quickly went back to work with goals from Shelby Stone, Eliza Perry, and Carey's second to construct a 7-1 cushion about 12 minutes into the first half.

The rest of the half was more closely-contested, as Greensboro's offense got going a bit, which kept the margin within seven (13-6) at the break.

Wooster blew the game open in the second half, though, by scoring the initial six goals, and nine in total, to account for its decisive 22-8 result. Among the highlights during the stanza were Ashley Parry's and Molly Sennett's first-career goals. Sennett also chipped in defensively with two caused turnovers and three ground balls on the day.

Overall, four players recorded hat tricks for Wooster, including Carey and Nelson-Johnson, who each tallied five goals and two assists. Joining them was Stone, who had a team-high eight points (3 goals, 5 assists), and Perry (3 goals). Others finding the back of the net were Cassie Greenbaum, Alison Schlothauer, and Jaqueline Wallat.

Shawna Ferris made five saves in goal, four coming in the second half.

Next, Wooster takes on Reinhardt University Saturday at 1 p.m.
