In a closely-contested women's lacrosse match-up between North Coast Athletic Conference rivals, Wittenberg University scored four of the game's final six goals to edge out The College of Wooster 10-8 Saturday afternoon at Springfield, Ohio.

The Scots trailed 6-4 midway through the second half, but Madison Carey and Shelby Stone each scored during a 1:30 spurt to tie the contest for the fourth time at 6-6. Shortly after, Wittenberg again took a two-goal lead (8-6), until Eliza Perry rifled in a shot that drew Wooster within one (8-7) with 6:37 left in regulation.

Moments later, the Tigers again strung together a mini two-goal run, as Logan Warye and Beth Hubbard each beat the 'keeper just :28 seconds apart to give Wittenberg its biggest advantage of the day at 10-7.

With 3:55 remaining on the clock, Perry scored on a free-position shot to cut the Scots' deficit to two (10-8), but that was as close as they got to closing the gap. Wooster did gain possession down the stretch, and fired off three shots during the final minute and a half to no avail.

Statistically, the biggest discrepancy was on draw controls, where Wittenberg won 16-of-20. Wooster held the advantage in groundballs (40-31) and shot attempts (26-20).

Carey paced the offense with two goals and an assist, while Perry and Jaqueline Wallat each added two goals as well. Defensively, Molly Sennett forced six turnovers and Alison Schlothauer scooped up 10 groundballs.

Goalkeeper Shawna Ferris made eight saves and recorded seven groundballs.

Wooster will be back at home Thursday when it hosts non-conference opponent Otterbein University at 5 p.m.
