The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team kept up its winning ways Saturday with a lopsided 18-5 victory over Hiram College in North Coast Athletic Conference action at Hiram, Ohio.

The Scots (8-1, 2-0 NCAC), who haven't lost since their opening game, took an 11-2 lead with them into halftime, which was highlighted by a hat trick from Sophia Hoover Grant, and twin sisters Haylie Honn and Heather Honn, who scored the last two goals before the break.

The second half was a bit more competitive on the scoreboard, although Wooster still provided some offensive highlights, most notably by Kelly Brethauer, who recorded the first hat trick of her young career with three goals during a 2:35 spurt midway through the stanza.

Wooster held a significant advantage in all major statistical categories, most notably shot attempts (29-8) and draw controls (19-6). Brethauer led the Scots with four draw controls, while Clare Nelson-Johnson and Alison Schlothauer added three apiece.

Overall, 11 different players scored at least once in the rout, with Brethauer and Hoover Grant's hat tricks leading the way. Honn (Heather) also contributed three points, with two goals and an assist.

Defensively, Wooster caused 16 turnovers and picked up 19 ground balls, and Kari Martyniak and Shelby Stone were the only two players with two of each. Isabel Perman won her fourth-consecutive start in place of injured all-conference goalkeeper Shawna Ferris, needing to make just one save this time around.

Next, the Scots host the University of the South (Sewanee) tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.
