WOOSTER, Ohio – Playing against a team that was ranked in the NCAA Div. III preseason top-20 coaches' poll and taking the field for an official game for the first time in three weeks was a bad combination for The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team as it fell to the State University of New York at Fredonia by a 15-2 count on Saturday evening at Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

Wooster (0-2), which spent a week of spring break in England, accounted for three of the game's first four shot attempts, but goalie Jessica Zagari was up to the task each time and then Fredonia State (4-2) unleashed a 9-0 run. The key stretches included three goals in 4:07 during the middle of the first half and four in just 3:19 towards the end of it.

The Fighting Scots played better during the second. They had the stanza's initial score, an Ellie Hudson-Heck goal via a nice feed from Molly Sennett about eight minutes in, but two tallies right after that by the Blue Devils put any hopes of a comeback away.

Hudson-Heck also netted Wooster's other goal, while Fredonia State's Marissa Cussins stood out with six goals and an assist.

The Scots will look to bounce back next Saturday when they visit Saint Vincent College (4-1).
