Ellie Hudson-Heck contributed a season-high six points (5 goals, 1 assist) to lead The College of Wooster to a 14-7 win over DePauw University on Sunday in a North Coast Athletic Conference women's lacrosse match-up at Greencastle, Ind.

The Fighting Scots (2-6, 2-2 NCAC) only outshot the Tigers (3-7, 2-3 NCAC) by three, 27-24, but they made their opportunities count. Wooster scored on three of its first six shots of the game, as Ashley Parry, Abby Szlachta, and Hudson-Heck gave the Scots a 3-0 lead 6:54 into the action.

DePauw pulled as close as 4-3 midway through the first half, but Wooster went into the break on a 5-2 scoring run, which included the second, third, and fourth goals of the game for Hudson-Heck, which made it 9-5 at the halftime break.

The contest became much more about defense in the second half, as each team fired off just 10 shots, but again Wooster was more efficient. Shelby Stone put the Scots in double-figures at 10-5, and after DePauw pulled back within four (10-6), Wooster scored four unanswered goals to pull away for good.

Wooster struggled on draw controls in the game, winning just eight of 23, but it was able to use it success on clears (15-for-20) and three free-position goals to create an advantage over its opponent.

Goalkeeper Isabel Perman was also a factor, making nine saves in goal while allowing her second-lowest goals against of the spring.

Offensively, Hudson-Heck was the headliner, but Szlachta (4 goals) and Stone (2 goals, 3 assists) were also very much involved.

Next up, Wooster visits Denison University (8-3, 3-1 NCAC) on Tuesday in a pivotal NCAC clash. Start time is 5 p.m.
