The College of Wooster and The University of the South produced plenty of offensive fireworks, as the teams combined for 38 goals, the most in a Fighting Scot game in at least 14 years, but in the end, the Tigers came out ahead, 22-16, in a high-scoring contest Monday evening at Sewanee, Tenn.

It was nonstop action in the opening stanza, as 22 goals were scored in 30 minutes, with 2:53 being the longest stretch without someone triggering the scoreboard.

The Scots (1-2) were down just one goal midway through the first half, after Ellie Hudson-Heck cut their deficit to 5-4, but the Tigers (4-0) scored the game's next four goals to build a five-goal cushion at 9-4.

Next, Shelby Stone keyed a 3-1 Wooster scoring run, as she scored twice, with Jamie Wren-Jarvis adding the other, to pull the Scots within three (10-7).

The Tigers regained momentum, highlighted by two goals over the final 32 seconds of the half, to push their advantage to 14-8 at the break.

Wooster never got closer than 14-9 and 15-10 in the second half, although it did end the game strong, with five of the last seven goals.

It was an impressive statistical day for several Scots, including Ashley Parry, who chipped in a career-high four goals, along with three draw controls and two groundballs. Stone matched Parry with a four-goal effort, while Helena Enders added her second straight hat trick (3 goals).

Hudson-Heck and Molly Sennett also stood out on the stat sheet, as they both won six draw controls and caused two turnovers, with Hudson-Heck adding a goal and two assists, and Sennett scoring twice with one helper in addition to picking up six groundballs.

Facing constant pressure from the opposing attack, goalkeeper Isabel Perman recorded eight saves.

Wooster will be back at home Friday when it hosts Mount St. Joseph University (0-2) at 5 p.m.
