WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster outscored North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin College 4-1 during the last eight minutes, with Shelby Stone's goal at the 1:26 mark standing up as the game-winner in a 12-11 triumph Saturday on Andrew Turf Field at John P. Papp Stadium.

The comeback victory allows Wooster (10-2, 5-0 NCAC) to stay atop the conference standings, tied with rival Wittenberg University (8-3, 5-0 NCAC), each with two leagues remaining, including one against one another.

Oberlin (8-3, 2-2 NCAC) had tallied four unanswered goals to take a 10-8 lead with 9:27 to play. The Fighting Scots regrouped during a timeout, and after a defensive stop, Michaela Lawrence scooped up a groundball that ultimately led to Abby Szlachta finishing off a nice feed from Ashley Parry to pull within one.

Wooster's defense came up big again, withstanding a long possession for the Yeowomen, including three free-position opportunities, and later, Emily Turnbull caused a turnover on that end of the field. The Scots turned the latter into an Ellie Hudson-Heck free-position goal, evening the scoreboard at 10 with 4:52 remaining.

After Oberlin won the ensuing draw control, Wynn Boehmcke quickly intercepted a pass and Wooster's offense took advantage, as Stone got free for a point-blank shot, throwing in another nice Parry feed and resulting in an 11-10 advantage with 3:50 left.

The Yeowomen's Grace Barlow tied the game for the sixth time on a free-position opportunity with 1:39 to go.

Molly Sennett of the Scots won the critical draw that followed, and Stone juked the Oberlin goalie who came out to challenge her en route to the winning goal. Notable, the Yeowomen had shut down Stone, Wooster's top scorer, for the first 56 minutes, but she came through in the clutch with the two biggest goals of the game.

Sennett won another draw control and the Scots were able to clinch the win by passing the ball around the perimeter for most of the remaining time.

During a back-and-forth opening 30 minutes, Wooster scored the first three goals, then Oberlin accounted for six of the next eight to take its initial lead at 6-5. The Scots scored the last two of the half for a 7-6 advantage.

Hudson-Heck matched her season high of five goals, while Parry registered a career-high five points coming on a pair of goals and three assists. Also aiding the offense, Szlachta notched a hat trick and Jamie Wren-Jarvis passed out two helpers.

Other top contributors included Sennett with five groundballs and four draw controls, Lawrence and Turnbull, who had three caused turnovers apiece, and Isabel Perman, who made seven timely saves.

Having played five consecutive home games, Wooster now hits the road for three of its final four of the regular season, starting with a trip to Allegheny College (4-7, 1-2 NCAC) on Tuesday night.
