WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster jumped out to an early lead and then cruised to a 16-6 win over Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, and in doing so, the Fighting Scots recorded their 12th-straight victory, matching their longest win streak in program history.

Not since the 1970s have the Scots (13-2, 7-0 North Coast Athletic Conference) won this many games in a row and never have they done it over the course of just one season. Their last such streak began with two wins to end the '74 season, then they went a perfect 9-0 during their '75 campaign, followed by a win in the '76 opener – resulting in a 12-game win streak spanning parts of three seasons.

This one was a no doubter, as Wooster went ahead 11-0 about 22 minutes into the contest and never looked back. Abby Szlachta scored three of the Scots' first six goals, notching her fifth hat trick of the season in the process.

Wooster took its foot off the gas during the second half, firing off just 10 shot attempts compared to its 20 before the break. However, it won 6-of-8 draw controls during the stanza and controlled possession to negate any potential comeback bid from the Battling Bishops.

Other notable scorers were Ellie Hudson-Heck (4 goals, 1 assist), who pushed her season total to a career-high 48 goals, while Heather Szymanski (3 goals) tallied her third hat trick of the spring and Ashley Parry (2 goals, 2 assists) recorded a four-point outing.

Molly Sennett paced the defense with four caused turnovers and Wynn Boehmcke added three. There wasn't much work to be done for goalkeeper Isabel Perman, but she did make one nice save on a point-blank free-position shot late in the second half.

With just one game remaining on its regular season schedule, Wooster will have the chance to become the 2015 NCAC champions on Wednesday when it travels to archrival Wittenberg University (9-3, 6-0 NCAC), which is also unbeaten in conference play. That game will kick off at 7 p.m.
