Record Day Propels Hudson-Heck to NCAC Player-of-the-Week Honors

Ellie Hudson-Heck

Ellie Hudson-Heck of The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team parlayed her school-record performance into North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Player-of-the-Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Hudson-Heck had a banner day on Sunday to cap the team's three-game swing in Oregon. In the 16-8 win over Whitman College, Hudson-Heck tied the single-game program record with eight goals. The outing marked just the fifth time overall a Fighting Scot tallied eight goals in a game, and the first since W Association Hall of Famer Meg Wood did so against Kenyon College in 1994.

Even more impressively, Hudson-Heck needed just nine shot attempts on Sunday to match the program record, with the last eight finding the back of the net.

For the week, Hudson-Heck had 17 goals and 13 groundballs.

With Sunday's win, Hudson-Heck and her Scot teammates improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1977.

The honor marks Hudson-Heck's second NCAC Player-of-the-Week honor.

Wooster welcomes Div. II Ursuline College (3-3) to John P. Papp Stadium for a 4 p.m. contest on Thursday. The game marks the first of five straight at home for the Scots.
