WOOSTER, Ohio – Senior Heather Szymanski tied her career-high with seven goals while sophomore Jordan Stone finished with nine points as The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team capped "Senior Day" with 14 unanswered goals during its 23-7 win over Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at John P. Papp Stadium.

Junior Michaela Lawrence started the strong finish off with an unassisted tally with 22:54 remaining in the game. From there, Wooster (9-2, 2-1 North Coast Athletic Conference) rattled off 13 more unanswered goals to close out the game, including four straight by Szymanski over a 5:30 span.

Wooster's last goal of the game was unique in nature as Szymanski slid one in during the closing seconds, but more importantly sophomore Laura Papp assisted on the goal. The helper - Papp's 20th of the season - marked the fourth straight year Wooster's had a student-athlete with at least 30 goals and 20 assists in a season. Papp's 30th goal of the year came with 22:05 remaining in Saturday's first half.

Ohio Wesleyan (4-6, 1-2 NCAC) kept the game close in the first half, and tied the contest at six when Cory Kinder scored on back-to-back goals with a :13 span, but Wooster never trailed in the contest and responded right back to two tallies from Stone that made it 8-6 at the half.

At the onset of the second half, Papp extended Wooster's lead to three on a free-position goal, but Ohio Wesleyan's Sloane Baumgartner matched Papp's free-position goal with 23:37 remaining to pull the Battling Bishops within two at 9-7, but Wooster's defense didn't allow a goal the rest of the way.

Wooster's second-half efforts on the draw control played a key role in the Scots' success as the Black & Gold finished with an 11-5 advantage in that stat over the final 30 minutes. For the game, Lawrence won 11 draws, the most by a Scot in a single game since at least 2003. Notable, the effort marked the third time Lawrence has won at least six draw controls on the season.

Offensively, Papp and Stone each scored four goals to back up Szymanski's seven while Stone added five assists to join Papp as the only players with five-assist games on the season.

Ohio Wesleyan turned the ball over 25 times in the contest, 11 of which were caused by Wooster players, including three from Papp. The sophomore also led the way with a game-high five groundballs.

Kinder led Ohio Wesleyan with three goals while Kelly Coffyn tallied 16 saves in the game.

Next, Wooster travels to rival Wittenberg University (7-5, 1-2 NCAC) for a 6:30 p.m. tilt on Thursday, April 13.
