Four Scots Named to All-NCAC Team

Four members of The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team earned All-North Coast Athletic Conference recognition this year, per an announcement by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Representing the Black and Gold on the first-team all-conference squad was sophomore defender Megan Healy, who concluded the year with 49 groundballs, 47 draw controls and 37 caused turnovers in addition to 11 goals and five assists. In conference play, Healy finished second league-wide in groundballs (33) and caused turnovers (21) to go along with a top 10 mark in draw controls (22). The athletic defender stepped up with eight groundballs against Denison University (April 18) and seven draw controls at Allegheny College (April 26) on top of a career-high three goals in Wooster's win over Calvin College (March 18). This year's honor marks the first of her career.

Senior Heather Szymanski and junior Michaela Lawrence both took home their first career all-NCAC nod as part of the conference's second team listing.

As the lone senior, Szymanski stepped up considerably in the captain's position during her final season, logging career-bests in goals (52), assists (15) and shot-on-goal percentage (.848). In conference play, Szymanski totaled 30 goals, tying for the second-most in the league to go along with seven assists. This season, Szymanski twice matched her career-high in goals per game with seven against Ohio Wesleyan University (April 8) before scoring seven against DePauw University exactly two weeks later (April 22). In fact, against the Tigers, the senior tacked on two assists to finish with a career-high nine points.

In the midfield, Michaela Lawrence tallied a career-high 18 assists and 28 goals through 15 games on the year while more than doubling last year's draw control total to finish with a team-high 55, eleven of which coming against Ohio Wesleyan. Lawrence's 37 draw controls in conference play was top five in the NCAC. The junior averaged over three points per game against league competition, highlighted by a career-high four assist game against Denison (April 18), representing one of five conference games in which she recorded at least four points.

Sophomore Emma Lawrence came away with honorable mention honors as part of her second career all-conference nod. Nominated as a defender, Lawrence scooped up 25 groundballs in conference play in addition to 14 cause turnovers. On the year, the sophomore two-sport athlete stepped up her offensive production from last year, tallying 20 goals and three assists, highlighted by a career-high four goals against Allegheny (April 26). Lawrence matched a career-best with five groundballs against Wittenberg University (April 13) and in Wooster's last-second win at Kenyon College (April 1), the latter of which featured another career best, this time in the caused turnover department with eight.
