Balanced Contributions Lift Wooster to 17-12 Win Over Kenyon

WOOSTER, Ohio – Junior Emma Lawrence tied her season-best with five goals and first-year goalkeeper Katie Shideler recorded 10 saves to headline The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team's 17-12 win over Kenyon College on Wednesday evening at John P. Papp Stadium.

The Ladies (8-4, 2-2 North Coast Athletic Coast) shot out to a quick 2-0 lead with back-to-back tallies from Avery Morgan and Lucy Somers within the first 67 seconds before Wooster (6-2, 2-1 NCAC) answered with a pair of its own off the sticks of sophomore Jenny Grossmann and senior Michaela Lawrence.

Junior Megan Myers recorded a co-season-high six groundballs in Wooster's 17-12 win over Kenyon.

Kenyon went on to regain a 5-3 advantage with 17:23 left in the first half, only to be answered by three straight Fighting Scots' goals to give the home team its first lead of the game at the 10:03 mark. In fact, the 3-0 streak was ultimately part of a larger 7-1 closing run for the Scots, with five different players finding the back of the cage as Wooster took a 10-6 lead into the break.

Junior Megan Healy opened the second half's scoring with a caused turnover-turned-goal just 31 seconds in, as the All-Region defender rebounded from a lost draw with a groundball and a goal for her second of the game.

Senior Helena Enders, who co-leads the teams in points with 26, got on the scoring sheet 29 seconds later with her first of the game before doubling down nearly 10 minutes later to give Wooster its largest lead of the day at 15-8 with 19:41 left.

Kenyon got back to within 15-10 with nearly 14 minutes remaining but did not threaten much after that. Wooster matched Kenyon's two remaining goals with tallies from Emma Lawrence and Healy to finish with its highest scoring total in league play this year.

Additionally, junior Megan Myers finished with a co-season-high six groundballs and Michaela Lawrence contributed a game-high three caused turnovers.

Up next, Wooster travels to Denison University (8-2, 3-0 NCAC) on Saturday, April 14 for a 1 p.m. start time.
