IWLCA Zag Sports Academic Honors Release

The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team landed a co-North Coast Athletic Conference-leading five student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll, and for the sixth consecutive year, the Fighting Scots earned the team Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad distinction from the coaches organization, it was announced on Monday.

Recent graduate Helena Enders and juniors Megan Healy, Jordan Stone, Rose Taylor, and Jess Vorse earned the individual honors, and that raises the program's total to 18 honorees since the 2013 season.

Enders, a two-time individual honoree by the IWLCA, capped her career with an all-conference certificate. Enders tallied 30 goals and 17 assists this past spring, and became the latest Wooster great to join the 100-goal club. Of Enders' assists, nine came in NCAC play, a total tops on the team, and the senior finished in the top-10 league-wide in helpers. The art history alumna graduated with a 3.66 GPA.

Healy parlayed a record-setting season into a second IWLCA All-Region certificate. The midfielder set single-season program records in groundballs (72) and draw controls (99), and finished the year tied for second in program history in caused turnovers (42). Healy led the NCAC in groundballs and caused turnovers, and was in the league's top five in draw controls. The biology major carries a 3.87 GPA into her senior year.

Stone, one of the team's top offensive contributors, saw her season cut short due to an injury. The attacker tallied a team-best four points in the season-opening 11-8 win at the University of Redlands thanks to three assists and a goal. Stone, a business economics major, sports a 3.78 GPA.

Taylor, a two-sport standout at the College, scooped up 30 groundballs and caused 15 turnovers as part of stout defensive unit that held the opposition to single-digit goals in eight contests, including four straight to start the season. The midfielder, who also plays field hockey, carries a 3.91 GPA into her senior year as a chemistry and mathematics double major.

Vorse, a reserve attacker, made the most of her opportunities with a goal and an assist in five appearances on the year. Vorse netted an assist in Wooster's 27-9 win at Whittier College, a game in which the program broke its record for most goals in a game. Vorse sports a 3.54 GPA as a biology major.

In all, the IWLCA honored 639 Div. III student-athletes from 189 different institutions on its Honor Roll. Student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student, and have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 to qualify.

Across all three divisions of NCAA women's lacrosse, 339 institutions posted a team GPA of at least 3.0 for the academic year.
